The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
